HI, I'M TOMMY SIEGEL AND I DO LOTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS
Hi there, internet person. I'm a Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer/cartoonist. That might sound confusing (because it is), so I'm gonna make it as easy as I can -- These are my main projects:
Jukebox the Ghost, my indie-pop band and main gig.
Van Doodles, my cartoons-by-request project.
Narc Twain, my dystopia-themed power-pop/post-punk band.
Tommy Siegel, music under my name in a Beatles-y bedroom pop vein.
Drunken Sufis, my instrumental/noise-jazz band.
They've all got their very own page with more detailed information/videos/music for your internet convenience, linked with each picture below:
I play guitar and bass and sing alongside Ben Thornewill (piano, vocals) and Jesse Kristin (drums, vocals) in Jukebox the Ghost, an indie-pop trio that has been chugging along since 2006. We've played over 1,000 shows all over the world, played festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, and late night shows like Letterman (performance here) and Conan (performance here). We've released four studio albums and a live album, all of which are on all the services you'd ever think of buying music from.
I'll spare you more details and links because the band has a shiny website that'll give you everything you need, with much better wording than I could ever provide:

I play guitar, write songs and sing in Narc Twain, a dystopia-themed power-pop/post-punk band that plays anthems for the 21st century meltdown. Think wiry guitars and talky vocals, a la Dismemberment Plan or Television, with a little dose of Elvis Costello. The band also features John Thayer (drums), Brett Niederman (bass), Aaron Leeder (guitar) and Dave Cohen (keyboards, vocals).
Vic Berger of SuperDeluxe fame made our first music video for “Downhill”.
Our debut self-titled EP was released in 2015. A follow-up EP of studio outtakes called "End of the End" followed in 2016.
Live videos:
"Future Shock", live at Breakthru Radio
"Same Shit", live acoustic
"And Today, Nothing", live acoustic
2017 will mark the release of our full-length debut.
Driving in a tour van all day can be...boring. Skull-crushingly boring, even. To entertain myself on long drives, I started taking doodle requests from my bandmates. A shrimp dancing on the belly of a goat? No problem. Jukebox the Ghost as backup dancers for Beyonce? Gotcha covered. Eventually, I started soliciting them from fans via Twitter, which ballooned into a full-blown alternate life for me on the road in an endless and completely ridiculous dialogue with strangers on the internet.
After a few years, I released my first doodle compilation book, "Van Doodles".
The follow-up is coming. I can feel it. The world needs more light bathroom reading...
Got a request? Tweet at me.
Most of them are archived over at my Tumblr.
Some are over on my Instagram too. But you're gonna have to deal with pictures of hikes and friends and my niece and nephew too, so be prepared.
Want to commission a doodle of something specific? Email tommy . siegel @ gmail . com for info and rates. I'm affordable as hell. And I don't bite. At least, not via email.
I've included some samples of my work on this page, just cuz:
My solo stuff is Beatles-y bedroom pop that worships at the alter of McCartney. I'm currently finishing up a solo record of material (songs that were a little left-of-center/mellow for Jukebox the Ghost's last two records) that will be coming out soon.
A few years ago, I released a live EP of funny-ish songs called "Live at Pete's Candy Store" that doesn't fit the above description....at all. But so far, it's the only album under my name.
Earlier in 2017, I released a single for charity, "The Fascists Really Got Me Down", mixed by Chris Kuffner and with a lyric video by Brian King.

I play guitar (and sometimes bass) in Drunken Sufis, which just released its seventh full-length album. An ever-shifting lineup with an ever-shifting sound, we started out as a bratty political punk band and have evolved into being a more abstract sound-collage/jazz-punk project with John Thayer's (also the drummer) production taking center stage.
The early records are totally bonkers and juvenile and a lot of fun. But if you're looking for a place to start in our catalogue, I'm the most proud of:
Cotton Candy Cluster Bombs - Tightly arranged mini-compositions for dual guitar interplay, overdubbed later with the other members of the band. Everyone else was forced to track limited takes on top of our guitar pieces without knowing the notes or structure. The result is an album that feels to me like an homage to flubs, spontaneity, and the magic that happens when people are playing music without knowing what-the-hell-is-going-on.
Pala Pala - Tighter guitar-centric compositions woven in with synth-y sound collage interludes. By far the most "mature" thing we've ever done. Some would even say this record sounds like 'real music'. Our most complete 'album'.
Obiwan Coyote (yes, that's really the band name) is Dan Kirkwood's brainchild, a space-country/Americana band. I play guitar and sometimes produce, but mostly I just play gratuitous country licks in a bolo tie. Our debut album is coming in the fall of 2017.
